Everyone deserves an opportunity in working life
We collaborate with Brisk, Ålesund Municipality, NAV, and the Apprenticeship Office to help more people enter the workforce. We think that everyone should be given a chance at our hotel, whether they are new to working life or have been standing outside it for a while. At Hotel Brosundet, we believe that diversity creates strength, and that everyone deserves the opportunity to contribute and grow in a supportive workplace.

As a local business, we want to help strengthen our community. That’s why we make conscious choices to buy local products whenever possible. This not only reduces emissions from transport but also supports economic growth for local producers and partners.
Giving back
Every Hike is a Donation
We want to give back. That’s why we have introduced an employee-driven donation program. For every Stikk UT! hike completed by a staff member, we donate 15 NOK to a charity selected through an annual employee vote. In 2024, this amounted to 4,600 NOK, and in 2025 we are on track to reach 6,600 NOK with 440 registered hikes.

Because every child deserves a gift
In collaboration with the Red Cross, we organize an annual Christmas gift collection. The Red Cross distributes the presents to children and young parents in our local community. Because we believe that every child deserves a gift on Christmas Eve.

It’s no secret that we at Brosundet have a deep fondness for candlelight – the warm, dancing flame that brings life to every room. The leftover candle stubs, once their light has faded, are collected and given to local schools, where children melt them down and create new candles of their own.

Even though we are a city hotel, we warmly welcome locals to make use of our facilities – whether it’s a night’s stay, a meal in one of our restaurants, or a swim by the Brosundet. What matters most to us is creating engagement and life in the city, and offering spaces where people can meet and connect.
A gift of caring
The Lonely Christmas Tree is one of our meaningful community initiatives. Each year, we place a Christmas tree in the hotel where guests, employees, and locals can leave a gift. We work closely with the Red Cross to ensure that the gifts are distributed to children and young parents in the local area who may need a little extra support during the holiday season.
Christmas can be bright and warm, but for some it can feel quiet and heavy. A gift cannot solve everything but it can make the difference between feeling left out and feeling seen. We see how much this matters, both for those who receive and for those who give. It is a small act that makes our city a little warmer. A little closer. A little kindness.
